The Continuing Saga of SPAM...

Right Guard vs. Secret
Truer words were never written...

I do wish I understood the purpose behind these cryptic messages. What if they are really the communications of aliens. Or some 2001 Space Odessy type thing has happened with computers that's gone unnoticed and the messages are really coded messages on how they're about to wipe us poor humans off the face of the earth.

Got Wood?
Drunken Decorations
Fine Print
~1~ From the daily to-do list on the dry erase board. The last item left was a reminder to replenish the wood supply for the stove. Someone of a musical bent happened to spy this task and modified it...

~2 ~ I tell you, I don't know what the world is coming to when you've got giant tin soldiers running around town drunk and passing out on people's lawns. Such a shame...

~3~ My department moved to a new location in our building. I requested a key to the file cabinet at my desk so I can have a place to lock up my purse in what is oftentimes an empty, unsupervised room while we techs work "the field." When the maintenance guy asked me to read him the teeny-tiny numbers from the lock so he could look up the key (he's always teasing me about my poor vision), my response was that...that was the smallest thing a man had ever asked me to look at...

I am saved from having to mingle with drunken college students for the Apple Drop by snow. We've got a little over an inch at mid-afternoon and while the pavement is too warm for it to stick there, my tires are at the end of their tread life and I'd rather not chance slippery and slushy if I don't have to and I don't have to.

I'm house sitting for someone new this week. One of my co-workers is off to Florida as chaparone on her daughter's band trip (they're performing at NASA and Disney World). It's a cool "old" house in Wamego, likely built around the turn of the century. High ceilings; real hardwood floors; massive wood trim pieces. It's had updates to plumbing, electric, kitchen and bathrooms, but all keeping in character with the original dwelling. There's a cat and a dog that both like to snuggle so I'm getting my animal fix. We've got a fire in the fireplace around which the little furry ones are gathered. I've just brewed a bone warming pot of decaf and thought I'd take advantage of the DSL to post some pictures.

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, or whatever flavor of December celebration you may subscribe to and that the new year brings you many good things.

Confidential to Ms. Stripes: Just don't over-do the table scraps (i.e. make them a treat, not a meal). Like anything else, moderation is the key. Unless there's something medically amiss with an animal, their nutritional needs are best met by foods made specifically for them. If you run into something that doesn't agree with kitty, I'm sure you'll find out all about it in the litter box I will tell you that the better quality food you feed, the less quantity you need to feed and the less you'll be cleaning out of the litter box.
