The Mighty Hunter...

Elmo fancies himself quite the stalker, not that he's ever caught anything. He's been an indoor kitty since the rescue people scooped him up at the tender age of three months. At nine months of age he came to live with us. We had adopted Dallas the labrador earlier in the day and thought if we want my cat and her dog to get along I'd better go out and get kitty the same day. Upon arriving home, Elmo decided he was more dog than cat, and in the past year he has added the poundage in an attempt to compete in the same wrestling weight class as Dallas. He still exhibits some cat behavior in that he loves to pretend he can catch birds, even if they are on the other side of the glass.

Er, kinda busy here

........................

Yup. I finally opened the boxes in the hall and here it is, my new setup. So give me a few days while I get data from point a to point b. I've got the essentials installed, now it's time to move all the fluff you accumulate on a computer over 4 years time. I'll be setting up a wireless network (my first) to tranfer my files because I'm too friggin' lazy to burn cd's/zip files/yadda yadda...

I don't know why I vibed on this as a theme today. Well, actually I do. It's not any one thing, a whole bunch of things just add up to one very morbid Juli today... ...Hey, I did exhibit some restraint, I didn't stop in the pouring rain to photograph the dead skunk on highway 24...

Maybe we are pack animals

Kitties, kitties everywhere. Elmo and Darwin were laying back to back in perfect kitty-bookend form so I grabbed my camera. Before I could take the shot, up jumped Struts. It's the first time all three of them have packed in together on the same piece of furniture.

[unfortunately upon transferring the pictures to the computer I discovered my flash settings were off so they aren't the clearest pictures, but they do capture the moment]

My last few years in California were spent in the high desert area. Victorville, CA, to be exact. Now the desert can be a beautiful place, but it's a harsh place. Unless you have the time and resources (lotsa water, lotsa nutrients) you're best to rock the whole place over from a landscaping point of view. Now I live in a very lush area, Wamego, KS, where pretty much every seed and spoor that hits the ground has a 110% likelihood of sprouting into something that will take over your yard given half a chance. Can you guess which pictures belong to the then and now?
